Keep Our Sacrifices Safe
A short story about demons
Well, folks, the fascists down in Alabama have done it again. This time they’re trying to pass a law that would prohibit elementary school libraries from carrying books on ritual magic. These books are essential both for future practitioners of the dark arts and future sacrifices, who won’t know how to purify themselves safely without a guide. The bigoted lawmakers who introduced this bill claim they want to keep kids safe, but all this will do is prevent kids born with a spiritual connection to an extraplanar entity or a natural inclination towards self-sacrifice from accessing the resources they need to be happy and become who they’re meant to be. In addition to infringing on childrens’ rights and religious freedom, this law would be a brazenly genocidal assault on the very existence of our people. It has to be stopped!
Although it won’t stop the Christian-dominated Alabama state government, denying us our right to practice our faith is illegal under United States law. The First Amendment bars the government from making laws controlling their citizens’ religious beliefs. Books on ritual magic sit in libraries alongside the Talmud, the Bible, and the Quran. Attacking demon worship specifically is clearly targeted religious suppression, driven by hatred. But the Christian Right, of course, is deeply intolerant and will reject anything they find frightening and unfamiliar without bothering to try and understand it–no matter how many kids they hurt in the process.
I recently met two of the kids who will suffer under this draconian law–I’ll call them Bryan and Cassie. Bryan and Cassie are Alabaman third-grade students and young demon-worshippers. Bryan is a nascent practitioner with an inborn connection to Xiuhpilli, and thanks to the ritual magic books in their school’s library, he and Cassie were able to safely perform a sacrifice of Cassie’s blood, hair, and one finger to the turquoise prince, a profoundly meaningful experience for both of them. If they hadn’t had proper guidance, this sacrifice could have gone very wrong, leading to infection, permanent injury, or incitement of the spirit’s wrath; but following the instructions in the book he received from his school librarian, Bryan was able to speak the necessary words of power and make all of his cuts cleanly. This is what the politicians trying to pass this tyrannical bill want to prevent.
But it goes deeper. As Christians, these lawmakers are pawns of the Enemy, and we should always question what benefits He gains from the moves He makes in our spiritual war. If He can prevent natural sorcerors from ever learning about demonic worship, or propagandize them against it heavily enough that they suppress their true natures, He can leave them no choice but to take His side. And if He can stop the sacrifice of children, we will default on our pacts, and our spectral companions will go hungry and become weak. Make no mistake: this isn’t just an attack on children, it’s an attack on every single one of us.
But don’t lose hope! Even if this bill does get passed, we have other ways of making sure our doctrine survives, especially in the age of the internet. These backward bigots want to destroy us, but we refuse to be destroyed. We have to spread our knowledge online and make it available to anyone who wants it. If a little demon worshipper can’t learn the proper method of cutting out a still-beating heart in their school library, we’ll make sure they can figure it out in ten minutes with a smartphone. Because they have a right to know.
Brilliant
Just brilliant!
